The driving & dementia pathway & pack was developed in a busy memory assessment service by a multi-disciplinary team. It was developed as currently there is a great deal of uncertainty among clinicians as to how this issue should be managed with patients. The puropse of our pathway was to cohesively bring together:

* Current UK legislation

* Good clinical practice

and

* Management strategies

The pathway was also shaped by input by colleagues from Mobility Centres and the DVLA.

It is hoped by the developers that the pathway and accompanying information pack can be adapted for individual use, and applied across a range of healthcare settings. The pack and resources are free to use and be adapted as appropriate with prior permission from the copyright owners (please contact kirsty.olsen@ncl.ac.uk). All reproduction and use of this material must acknowledge Newcastle University and the Driving and Dementia Project.
